Social Work Services
Schaffer Social Workers are experienced and available to assist you and your family in adjusting to the facility. They will help you to understand all the services available at Schaffer and assist with planning a safe discharge.

Therapeutic Recreation & Activities
On a daily basis SECC offers diverse and interactive recreation programs, as well as activities and resources for individual pursuits.  Semi-annually the Therapeutic Recreation Department prepares a wonderful formal dinner celebrating the season which includes an invitation to families.  Music and entertainment highlight the evening.  Another highly-anticipated feature is the bimonthly classical music concerts performed by Julliard-trained musicians.

A Resident's Council provides a monthly forum for residents' input in the operations of the facility.

Restorative Nursing Program
This program is designed to enhance quality of life through ambulation training, range of motion exercise, activities of daily living training, and amputation/prosthesis assistance. Specially trained certified nursing assistants under the supervision of a Restorative Nurse Coordinator and the Physical Therapy Department staff this innovative program.

Hospice Services and Program
In partnership with Hospice Care in Westchester and Putnam, Inc., our comprehensive Hospice program is designed to support residents and their families by easing their distress and grief associated with the dying process.  Hospice services are a vital source of strength for families when a loved one is terminally ill. SECC provides caring, dignified and compassionate care to residents and their families at a time when it is most needed. This care is offered in a respectful environment, attuned to the significance of this phase of life.
